On 15 January 2025, Delaware-based DuPont de Nemours, Inc. (DuPont) announced a major strategic shift, opting to retain its Water business unit under the DuPont brand while accelerating the spin-off of its Electronics segment. This move reverses the company’s May 2024 course to split into three publicly traded entities—i.e., New DuPont, Electronics, and Water.

In 2023, DuPont reported US$12.1 billion in net sales, with the Water & Protection division contributing US$5.6 billion, of which Water Solutions accounted for US$1.5 billion. DuPont’s Water Solutions business primarily sells reverse osmosis membranes, ion exchange resins, and ultrafiltration technologies for advanced water treatment systems worldwide.

While this decision signals DuPont’s renewed commitment to the water sector— reflecting market demand for water quality treatment solutions—it also points to a strategic reassessment of its business priorities in the wake of recent leadership changes.
