On 16 September 2025, Kemira announced the US$150 million acquisition of Water Engineering, Inc. from Nolan Capital. Water Engineering, Inc., headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, specializes in industrial water and wastewater solutions (e.g., treatment equipment, chemicals, consulting services) for the food & beverage, manufacturing, and healthcare sectors.
In May 2022, Nolan Capital, a family office based in Southern California, acquired a majority stake in Water Engineering, Inc. Water Engineering, Inc. was merged with Nolan Capital’s existing water treatment portfolio company, California-based Apollo Technologies. Since the investment, Water Engineering, Inc. has expanded significantly, adding seven companies to its business. Through a network of 14 facilities, Water Engineering, Inc. has national service coverage spanning 43 states, with revenues projected to surpass US$60 million for the 2025 fiscal year.
Kemira’s Water Solutions segment now accounts for approximately 45% of its US$1.5 billion annual revenue, with industrial end users comprising 50% of sales. Kemira’s tilt toward water accelerated after divesting its oil and gas business to Sterling Specialty Chemicals LLC in February 2024.
