Herc’s US$5.3B Acquisition: Reshaping the Water Rental Market Channel

On 18 February 2025, Florida-based Herc Rentals announced it successfully outbid rival United Rentals with a US$5.3 billion bid for publicly traded H&E Equipment Services. The deal cements Herc in the third-ranked spot among equipment rental companies in terms of market share, placing it behind United and Sunbelt Rentals. United’s losing bid of US$4.8 billion was made on 14 January 2025.

A combined Herc and H&E, with US$5.1 billion in revenues, will be represented by more than 600 rental locations and a fleet valued at US$10.0 billion.
