On 25 February 2026, California Water Service Group announced the purchase of Nexus Water Group’s operations in Nevada and Oregon for US$218 million. The sale includes 16 systems that collectively serve 35,593 residential connections. The transaction is anticipated to close by the end of 2026.
This marks the second major divestment by Nexus since its formation in April 2024; the first being a US$315 million transfer of 60 systems to American Water Works Company. Combined, these transactions will result in Nexus shedding an estimated 15% of its total U.S. connection base.
California Water Service Group, headquartered in San Jose, California, serves approximately 562,000 connections across five states and is the largest investor-owned water and wastewater utility in the Western U.S. In addition to its regulated operations, the company provides nonregulated services, including water system operations, meter reading, and billing services.
