Madrid Meter Contract Signals Market Boost

On 13 June 2023, Canal de Isabel II (CYII), the public utility in charge of water and wastewater services in the region of Madrid, Spain, awarded an advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) tender to Vodafone and Telefónica worth over €73.6 million (US$82.7 million). The contract scope includes acquisition and connection services for 540,000 meters via narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) over five years.
