On 12 August 2025, Ecolab announced the US$1.8 billion acquisition of Ovivo’s electronics business. Ovivo, headquartered in Montreal, Canada, specializes in advanced water treatment solutions for industrial and municipal end markets, providing equipment, technology, and treatment systems.

In 2016, SKion Water International GmbH, a German investment company, acquired a majority stake (70%) in Ovivo, while institutional investor Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec took on a 30% share. SKion Water’s ownership currently stands at 100%.

Minnesota-based Ecolab, a provider of water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions, has approximately 48,000 employees globally and generates annual revenues of US$15.7 billion. The acquisition of Ovivo’s electronics division will be rolled up into Ecolab’s water for high-tech industries offerings (e.g., semiconductors, data centers).
