CDM Smith, EPCs Carve Out Digital Water Positions

On 12 January 2022, CDM Smith launched a new, wholly owned digital solutions subsidiary called Trinnex. CDM Smith is a global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm with over 5,000 employees and annual revenues of approximately US$1.4 billion. The Trinnex launch is the latest in a series of recent moves by leading engineering firms looking to capitalize on growth opportunities in the digital water market. Technological advances have made digital solutions a viable alternative to infrastructure upgrades, forcing EPCs to rethink their traditional, billable hours-based business model.
