On 4 September 2025, Finnish digital water-monitoring company Smartvatten announced the acquisition of LeakLook, a water technology firm. Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Espoo, Smartvatten offers a range of water management services, including artificial intelligence-powered consumption analytics, leak detection, and compliance tools, catering to real estate owners, housing companies, and utilities. It operates in the Nordics, Benelux, Germany, and beyond.

LeakLook, also based in Finland, specializes in Internet-of-Things-enabled main water meter monitoring and real-time leak detection alerts. Its technology integrates seamlessly with existing mechanical meters and can be incorporated into smart home or property systems to identify water loss. This acquisition supports Smartvatten’s goal to expand its submetering and Internet-of-Things capabilities, enabling the company to move beyond analytics and offer integrated monitoring across diverse building environments.

Following financial backing from the private equity firm Norvestor on 26 February 2021, Smartvatten implemented a growth strategy that led to two acquisitions in 2022: VertoNordic Oy, which extended its capabilities in apartment-level submetering, and Neuroflux, which provided a cloud service for managing wastewater networks.
