On 16 June 2025, Cologne-based Strabag AG (€17.4 billion in 2024 revenue) announced its acquisition of Sandkamp Tiefbau GmbH. Sandkamp is a family-owned company specializing in pipeline, cable, and sewer construction for both municipal and industrial clients.
As part of the acquisition, all 25 Sandkamp employees, along with their certified equipment fleet, will join Strabag’s Nordhorn business division retroactively from 1 January 2025. Although this is a relatively small-scale deal (Sandkamp generates roughly €2.5 million in annual revenues, and the deal’s purchase price remains undisclosed), it aligns with Strabag’s strategy of pursuing targeted regional M&A to bolster its presence in the local market of Westmünsterland, a subregion of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) that borders the Netherlands.
Sandkamp’s integration into Strabag’s end-to-end offerings will allow cross-selling opportunities in civil engineering disciplines under a single contractual umbrella. This move further expands Strabag’s footprint in Germany’s water sector as it prepares for several large-scale tenders. These include NRW’s planned €200 million Ruhr corridor pipe replacements (tendered Q4 2025) and the €450 million Rhine-Moselle water-main expansion (planned for 2026–2028).
