On 29 July 2021, the State of California Office of Environmental Health Hazard
Assessment proposed Public Health Goals (PHGs) for drinking water concentrations of the synthetic chemicals PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid) & PFOS
(perfluorooctane sulfonic acid). These chemicals, now considered a threat to
public health, belong to the larger chemical group known as PFAS (per- and
polyfluoroalkyl substances) and are linked to cancer and other health risks.

In this Research Note:

  • Focus on PFAS contamination on and surrounding military installations
  • Remediation services for industrial PFAS releases are on the horizon
  • Expanding opportunities for supplying PFAS remediation services
