Senior Analyst, Water Industry, North America

Bluefield Research is seeking a dynamic person who wants to take a leading role in water analysis for the U.S. and Canada markets. In this pivotal role, the person will be responsible for guiding a team of water experts in delivering market-leading insights and real-time support to an expanding roster of clients. 

Our research team, known for producing high-quality, data-backed research in a rapidly changing environment– shaped by climate, competitive strategies, and policies– is looking for someone with a combination of strong industry insights, leadership capabilities, and an insatiable curiosity about markets and business strategies.

This is a great opportunity to be a thought leader in a business-to-business environment, backed by a unique product (i.e., market data & insights) for companies focusing on a critically important industry (i.e., municipal and industrial water, wastewater, and stormwater management). 

Become a thought leader in water

  • Team Leadership: Guide and support a team of analysts to consistently deliver high-quality reports, presentations, and client workshops.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market trends and developments influencing critical analyses of industry trends, outcomes, sensitivities, and potentially disruptive factors across the municipal and industrial markets.
  • Client Support: Provide day-to-day support to corporate insight clients, ensuring maximization of our products, including alignment of deliverables with and client workflows and needs.
  • Project Management: Develop and lead transparent project plans that consider timelines, resource allocations, and potential challenges. Most importantly, take ownership to ensure that the respective team members stay on course.
  • Collaboration: Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages open communication, mutual respect, and a shared sense of purpose among team members.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to engage prospective clients, promoting Bluefield’s offerings. This includes client workshops, webinars, speaking engagements, and associated travel. 
  • Industry Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying opportunities for new business and revenue growth.

Show off your skills and experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating a solid understanding of water, energy, infrastructure, or market research fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in business and company strategies will set you apart.
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Sisense) is a benefit.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to travel for client meetings, conferences, and sales trips.

The Basics:

  • College or University degree required; Graduate degree, MBA or business degree is preferred.
  • Experience in start-up company culture is preferred.

  • This is a full time position. Open to candidates located in Boston or San Francisco areas.

Water Research Associate, West Coast, U.S.

The 13 Western states are critical to the U.S. economy, home to over 78 million people and responsible for nearly 20% of the nation’s GDP. Yet, this vital region faces unprecedented water challenges. 

Climate-driven water scarcity, booming population growth, and the surging demands of critical industries like agriculture, data centers, and semiconductor manufacturing are pushing the region’s water resources to their limits. With the Colorado River and other key water sources under immense strain, key stakeholders respond though innovative solutions, from water reuse and desalination to smart irrigation and digital water management technologies.

Bluefield Research is seeking a Research Associate to lead our efforts in analyzing and communicating these evolving dynamics of water management to our growing roster of clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide company strategies and decisions. As a thought leader in this field, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of water management.

Become a thought leader in water

  • Regional Water Market Analysis:  Monitor market trends, outcomes, policies and potentially disruptive factors impacting water management opportunities in the West. Key research topics will include water reuse, digital water, policy and water resources management.
  • Company Insights: Keep pace with changing business strategies of the leading companies on the West Coast from engineering to technology to smart irrigation companies.
  • Data Collection: Work with Bluefield’s data team to identify relevant water data sets and apply our research methodology to carry out forecasting and other data exercises.
  • Client Support: Provide support to research and consulting teams on inquiries from our growing West coast client base.
  • Industry Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients, identifying opportunities for new business and revenue growth in western states.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with the sales team help identify companies and drive business development efforts in the water for agriculture space. This may include client workshops, webinars, speaking engagements, and industry conferences.

  • 2 to 5 years relevant experience, within the water management, agriculture, infrastructure, engineering, or market research fields, preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in West Coast water issues will set you apart.
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Sisense) is preferred.
  • A keen attention to detail and highly effective organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, prospects and industry stakeholders.
  • Self-starter who is also team player that works well with others.
  • Flexible to travel to clients and industry conferences, as needed.

The Consultant position supports Bluefield’s custom research activities by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data trends and market shifts across the water industry for a specific project scope and client. This opportunity, which is project-based, is ideal for those seeking to build their knowledge and develop expertise in global water and business strategies. It is also a demonstrated stepping stone to a full time position.  

Navigate global water strategies and competitive landscapes:

  • Support Bluefield team with data collection, analysis, and presentations for clients.
  • Develop clear research and forecasting methodologies that can be applied to market sizings and outlooks.
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of curiosity about the regulatory, technology, and competitive drivers influencing the global water industry
  • Interact with industry players via primary research activities to identify key data inputs and market perspectives to support strategy discussions
