Nexus’s Utility Sell-Off Goes to American Water 

On 19 May 2025, Nexus Water Group announced its divestment of select operations and assets in eight states to American Water Works Company for US$315 million. The assets under transfer include 60 drinking water and wastewater systems that collectively serve approximately 46,600 connections. The transaction is anticipated to close by August 2026, pending receipt of state regulatory approvals.

Ekopak Falters over Flagship WaaS® Project  

On 13 May, Belgian investment firm Alychlo provided water reuse innovator Ekopak NV with a €14 million capital injection. The funds will resolve Ekopak’s liquidity issues as it develops its flagship Waterkracht project. On 28 April, Belgium’s Financial Services and Markets Authority opened an administrative investigation into Ekopak’s disclosure compliance as a listed company.

EQT Adds Seven Seas Water-as-a-Service® to Growing Water Portfolio 

On 22 May 2025, Swedish private equity firm EQT announced the acquisition of Seven Seas Water Group from Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners. The deal is reportedly valued at over US$1 billion, including debt. EQT has been a leading investor in the water sector since 2017, with other major investments including Innovyze, Saur, and AMCS.
