U.S. Investor-Owned Water Utilities, M&A Deals and Trends, Q4 2017

15 October 2017
Data Insight

Through our US & Canada Municipal Water Insight service, Bluefield tracks M&A deals on a quarterly basis, helping companies identify the key states, systems, and opportunities that stand out in an already crowded field with increasing competition.

Through Q3 2017, more than US$263 million of investor-owned utility acquisitions for 62 deals have been completed. While this falls short of the US$382 million for 30 deals during the same period in 2016, it demonstrates the volume of smaller, tuck-in deals. American Water completed three tuck-in acquisitions in Q3 2017 for US$1.59 million.

In this Data Insight, Bluefield analyzes private water M&A deals in Q4, including market landscape and legislation affecting investor-owned utility deals.
