In October, U.K.-water service provider United Utilities announced it had signed a framework agreement with Canadian start-up EMAGIN Clean Technologies Inc. The agreement drives the third largest water and wastewater utility in the U.K., that serves over 7 million people, to deploy EMAGIN’s Hybrid Adaptive Real-time Virtual Intelligence platform across its entire service network by the end of 2019.
As utilities across the U.K. await Ofwat’s determinations on submitted 2020-2025 asset management period (AMP7) plans, United highlights digital water technologies as a key catalyst to implement a radically different operating model that could transform the U.K., and eventually global, municipal water utility sector.
