U.S. Smart Water Landscape Taking on New Look

17 May 2016
Research Note

Five hardware companies currently dominate the U.S. water landscape: Neptune, Badger Meter, Sensus, Master Meter, and Mueller, represent more than 85% of US and Canada market share. On 5 May 2016, Wisconsin-based Badger Meter announced intentions to explore various options to enhance shareholder value, including positioning itself for sale.

The Badger announcement comes on the heels of Honeywell’s recent market entry into water.  Bluefield anticipates that more large, diversified companies will expand their data and analytics roles and enter the fray.
