On 11 March 2025, Sweden-based global LoRaWAN provider Netmore Group announced the launch of its Metering-as-a-Service (MaaS) solution for water and gas utility clients. This solution offers a more affordable way for utilities to adopt advanced metering infrastructure that enables remote meter readings.
This launch expands on Netmore’s other as-a-Service offerings. Through its Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) solution, users can subscribe monthly to connect their devices to Netmore’s managed LoRaWAN network. Netmore’s Platform-as-a-Service takes this concept further, leveraging the company’s expertise in Internet of Things (IoT) and LoRaWAN networks to build a proprietary, dedicated network for connecting devices.
Within the water industry, the “aaS” model promises to deliver recurring revenue to service providers while providing utilities with more flexible, cost-effective connectivity. However, despite being available for over five years, MaaS continues to face challenges in utility adoption.
