Water for Energy: Trends, Conditions, Forward Looking, Q3 2022
This year, the energy spotlight has centered on European electric and gas markets because of the associated impacts of the Russia-Ukraine war. According to Nasdaq, natural gas prices at the Netherlands Title Transfer Facility (the largest liquid natural gas market in Europe) have risen 179% over the last 12 months. The collateral impacts include higher energy prices for water and wastewater utilities operations, higher prices for treatment chemicals, and the potential for electric blackouts during high-demand periods.
