Data Analyst, Water Industry Insights

Summary: As a Data Analyst at Bluefield, you will be at the forefront of our mission to shape and deliver data-driven solutions to our multinational clients. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a dynamic, cross-functional team of research analysts, marketing professionals, and sales associates, by actively contributing to the strategic direction of our data product offerings. 

We are seeking a motivated colleague to play a pivotal role in transforming our company’s data roadmap into a reality, identifying new opportunities, and driving revenue growth while providing exceptional client experiences.

Five Key Responsibilities as a Data Analyst for a Leading Provider of Water Market Intelligence:

  1. Maintain and Enhance Data Visualization Platform:
    • Project manage implementation of data collection and dashboards on an ongoing basis to support existing clients.
    • Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and implement process automation of existing data – primary and secondary.
  2. Execute the Rollout of Data Roadmap:
    • Support the development of Bluefield’s data platform, including dashboards and market forecasts, to enhance stakeholder experiences.
    • Lead and manage the data product pipeline, working closely with the research team for support and guidance.
  3. Lead Internal Stakeholders as a “Data” Champion:
    • Collaborate with management and research team to prioritize business and information needs.
    • Conduct regular data meetings with internal stakeholders and define key success metrics.
  4. Collaborate with Bluefield Teams:
    • Understand and support usage of Bluefield’s data platform and drive client engagement.
    • Collaborate with client “superusers” to understand how they are engaging with data on the platform and how to make improvements.
  5. Serve as Bluefield’s Data Point-Person:
    • Be the primary contact for troubleshooting data-related issues for clients and service providers.
    • Work with third-party vendors to streamline respective processes and identify new, better paths forward.

Show off your skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Statistics.
  • 1-3 years of experience in data management.
  • Demonstrated experience performing aforementioned Data Analyst-type tasks and activities.
  • Problem solving skills within an existing framework– processes, expectations, and tools.
  • Technical expertise in data models, database design, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Proficiency in data management languages and tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL) to support research team and data management.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Sisense, Power BI, etc.).

Summary: The Bluefield internship focuses on supporting our insight service clients though data and trend analysis, developing reports and presentations for clients, and being part of a team. This is an excellent and proven opportunity for candidates seeking to build their knowledge and experience in the global water markets. It is also a valuable entry-point into full-time employment.

Forge a new path in the rapidly changing water landscape:

  • Build-out and maintain project and company databases
  • Interact with industry players and government agencies to identify key data inputs and market perspectives to support strategy discussions
  • Initiate and produce PowerPoint presentations
  • Demonstrate to research team members a growing knowledge and expertise of the water sector, water technology, and market opportunities
  • Build an understanding of the regulatory, technology and competitive landscape of the water industry and the development market

  • Required Education – Undergraduate or Graduate degree, candidates Accepted
  • Experience: Preferred 1-2 years experience in written research and analysis in the water, energy, or other infrastructure sector

Consultant, Global Water Industry

The Consultant position supports Bluefield’s custom research activities by collecting, analyzing, and presenting data trends and market shifts across the water industry for a specific project scope and client. This opportunity, which is project-based, is ideal for those seeking to build their knowledge and develop expertise in global water and business strategies. It is also a demonstrated stepping stone to a full time position.  

Navigate global water strategies and competitive landscapes:

  • Get up to speed on client-focused scope to support Bluefield team with data collection, analysis, and presentations
  • Develop clear research and forecasting methodologies that can be applied to market sizings and outlooks.
  • Develop and maintain a strong level of curiosity about the regulatory, technology, and competitive drivers influencing the global water industry
  • Interact with industry players via primary research activities to identify key data inputs and market perspectives to support strategy discussions
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and expertise of the water sector, water technology, and market opportunities within project framework during workshops and client meetings
  • Think outside the box to deliver thought provoking insights to colleagues and clients

  • Undergraduate degree; a Graduate Degree is a strong benefit
  • 2-5 years relevant experience, within the water, infrastructure, or market research sectors is preferred
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); experience with database platforms such as Tableau, Sisense, PowerBI is a benefit
  • A keen attention to detail and highly effective organization skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Fluent English and at least one other language is preferred
  • Willingness to work on a flexible project-to-project basis. Our most successful team members begin collaboration on short term projects that leads to a permanent position.
